Dawoud Bey Advises Young Photographers

Considering the minor controversy that ensued in November when I posted a link to a Magnum article on advice, I hope that this link will be better received.

Respected photographer Dawoud Bey has listed some of his top tips for young photographers who want to grow in the field. A large chunk of it is related to surrounding yourself with those with talent, and learning from them so that you can be at their level. He also quotes Malcolm Gladwell’s tip of putting in at least 10,000 hours of practice to become successful.

The article is great; I intend to take his tips to heart, and I hope you will too.
