Working Again

I’m in Columbus, and shooting again. I did a couple of portraits this past week for a friend (to be posted here once they’re ready to go), then today I visited the beautiful home of my cousin’s girlfriend, and took a couple of photos around her yard. This evening, a friend dropped by to do a portrait for a series I’m starting on portraits of musicians, and since he had expressed an interest in doing some modeling, including nudes, before, we did some test shots. I got one really great portrait of that shoot that I’ll also share in the next few days, but I’m going to have to re-think my approach with the musician portrait. I think I already know how I want to do it.

It feels really good to be shooting again, it’s like working out muscles you haven’t worked in a long time. At first it feels awkward and unsteady, but then you get into the swing of things and it feels like “oh yeah, this is why I love doing this.” I’m hoping that this break I’m taking in thinking of my photography as a job will help my re-connect with loving it as a form of artistic expression.

In other news, there is still no progress being made in getting my website back up at its old location. I will soon be announcing a new URL, because it’s simply insane that I’ve now gone so long without a functioning portfolio website. Since I’ve changed my working style so much since the website went down, it will probably be a couple of weeks until I’ve worked out a new design to fit my needs. Once I have, I’ll obviously announce the launch here.

To repeat myself from an earlier post, please let me know if you’d like to have your portrait done. Seriously… free portraits. Come and get ’em.
